Wei Li
(China)
Voice

Born in China, Wei Li entered the Guangdong School of Theatre at the young age of six. She has won many distinguished awards in China as well as abroad including ‘Best Soprano’ of the South China Opera Competition. Between 1992 and 1994 she represented China in the Asian Art Festival, again winning the ‘Best Soprano Prize’. Since moving to London, Wei Li has toured extensively throughout the UK and around Europe. She had the honour of being featured by the BBC World Service in a programme dedicated to her singing career. The BBC also invited her to teach the BBC choir. As well as performing with the Grand Union Orchestra since 1992, Wei Li lectures at London University in music, opera and drama. She is, without doubt, considered to be one of the best Chinese Sopranos in Europe today.
